RCMP officers on weapons call in Kamloops find person armed with homemade firework
Kamloops RCMP surrounded a Valleyview motel this morning after receiving a report of a firearm.
Multiple police officers responded to the "elevated risk" and arrested two people at the motel in the 1800-block of the East Trans-Canada Highway at around 11:20 a.m. today, Oct. 21, , according to an RCMP news release.
Initial reports suggested a dispute between two tenants ended with one of them producing a gun, but after further investigation it was found to be a "device similar to a homemade firework," RCMP said.
Both people were released. RCMP do not say if any charges will be laid.
