Vernon councillor seeks another term

VERNON – Councillor Brian Quiring will seek another term on Vernon council this fall.

A partner with MQN Architects, Quiring has lived in Vernon since 1993 and served on council for the last three years. He graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Master of Architecture degree and supports development and construction as an important economic driver for the community.

“I have worked hard to encourage staff to streamline the development application process in an effort to promote viable economic development,” Quiring said in a press release.

His goal is to create a sustainable Vernon, economically, socially and environmentally. One of his priorities if re-elected, would be to promote sustainable architecture, landscape and agriculture.

“I bring to city council a thorough understanding of sustainable development through the use of design principles based upon smart growth strategies,” Quiring said.

He would continue to encourage and promote transit oriented mixed-use development with a wide range of housing choices.

“I have successfully balanced my family, council responsibilities and my business and look forward to another term on council,” he said.
