A popular Lake Country pub has temporarily closed its doors as a staff member awaits COVID-19 test results.

Turtle Bay Pub posted an update on its Facebook page last night stating it has chosen close as it awaits a team member's test results. "We do not wish to cause alarm, but we do believe it is right to exercise the highest level of caution until we can be sure the test is negative. We feel this is the right thing to do for the safety of our team and our community," according to the Facebook post.

This is the latest in a growing line of businesses that have chosen to shut down due to possible COVID-19 exposures.

World Gym chose to close down after receiving an alert from IH that a "potentially infectious" person visited the facility on July 9 and 10. Businesses that have either put out notices or closed include Poplar Grove Winery, Quails' Gate Estate Winery, Rustic Reel Brewing Company and Train Station Pub. JoieFarm Winery in Naramata has closed its tasting room even though no customers or staff are suspected of being infected.

Browns Socialhouse in Kelowna at 100-1544 Harvey Ave, is the fifth Kelowna business identified as a place where people may gave been exposed to the virus following a series of private parties and gatherings in the city around Canada Day. Cactus Club, Pace Spin Studio, Discovery Bay Resort and Boyce Gyro Beach Lodge were identified earlier this month. The Krazy Cherry Fruit Company outbreak in Oliver is also linked to the Kelowna events.

In the North Okanagan, a Starbucks has also temporarily closed as two employees await COVID-19 test results.

Interior Health also announced July 22 there has been a seventh Kelowna General Hospital employee who has tested positive to COVID-19, along with the six announced earlier.
