Teenager takes plunge off Naramata Creek waterfall and survives | iNFOnews.ca

NARAMATA – A 17-year-old boy is recovering in hospital after a fall down a waterfall near Naramata on Saturday.

He lost his footing at the top of the waterfall on Naramata Creek near the KVR trail just off Arawana Road.

The teenager fell about 50 feet according to Global Okanagan. He landed in a pool of water, which likely saved his life.

He suffered a serious leg injury according to Ryanne Volrich with Penticton Search and Rescue. The volunteers were called at about 1 p.m. to do a high angle rescue.

The rescuers, including Naramata and Penticton firefighters, brought the injured boy up a 200-foot slope to the waiting ambulance. He was transported to Penticton Regional Hospital.

Volrich says in a media release the teen had been cycling in the area.

His name and hometown haven’t been released.
