Kamloops hosts memorial for fallen Moncton officers

KAMLOOPS – A brief memorial will be held at the Kamloops RCMP detachment tomorrow to honour the officers who lost their lives in Moncton June 4.

The service will start at 1 p.m. June 10 and is open to members of the public who wish to pay their respects. A book of condolences will be available and can be signed. The book will be forwarded to Moncton.

The service is for the three RCMP officers, Cst. Fabrice Georges Gevaudan, Cst. Douglas James Larche and Cst. Dave Joseph Ross, who were gunned down last Wednesday.

A 30-hour manhunt ensued and Justin Bourque, 24, of Moncton was arrested June 6. He appeared in court and was charged with three counts of first degree murder and two charges of attempted murder. Two other Mounties were also shot June 4 but survived their injuries.
