Liquidation World gets liquidated

VERNON – A popular Vernon business has closed its doors.

Signs on Liquidation World’s 30 Avenue storefront advise of the closure and thank shoppers for their patronage.

The furniture, clothing, electronics and everything store opened in 2006 and has been a staple for many Vernon shoppers over the years. Its prominent location on Main Street drew many to the downtown core.

Last year, Big Lots, the parent company of Liquidation World, announced it was closing 78 stores across Canada to focus on its U.S. endeavours.

Vernon residents could be seen peering through the windows of the vacant building this week. Irene Alborough says she’ll definitely miss the great deals.

“I loved going in there. Everybody in Vernon shopped there,” she says. “It will be seriously missed.”
