Kamloops accessible playground getting upgrade

Prince Charles Park is getting a $250,000 facelift that will provide accessible playground equipment designed for children two to 12 years old.

In addition to the accessible eqiupment, the plans for the downtown park include a new playground theme meant to enhance the existing wading pool, which will also be repainted. A pirate ship with a slide, bells and drums, spinners, rotating climbing net and a sand and water table are just a few of the new pieces coming to the park. 

The upgrade is expected to be complete by this summer and the park will remain open during construction, though areas under construction will be fenced off.

The former playground, which was an accessible wood playground, has already been removed. The city is working with Kamloops Fire and Rescue and Operation Haiti to recycle the old accessible playground equipment.
