Strong wind flattens Father Time weather vane at Lord’s cricket ground

LONDON – It’s been a damaging month for English cricket, and now one of the symbols of the national game has taken a hit.

Father Time, the weather vane which looks over the Lord’s cricket ground in London, was flattened by strong wind over the weekend.

Staff at Marylebone Cricket Club, which owns Lord’s, are working to restore the steel figure to its original upright position.

Father Time has been in place at Lord’s — known as the “Home of Cricket” — since being donated by architect Herbert Baker in 1926 and has previously been felled by bad weather.

England was blown away at the Cricket World Cup this month, going out in the group stage.
