Summerland animal sanctuary’s latest scoop on Ben and Jerry is a sweet one

There's good news to share about the two dogs found in rough shape last week in Kelowna.

They were found in freezing temperatures on a logging road in the Joe Rich area, according to Critteraid Animal Sanctuary in Summerland, where they were taken to and have been staying for the past week. Critteraid gave them the temporary names Ben and Gerry.

Both dogs were cold, hungry and required urgent medical attention. Ben was found with a broken jaw and 20 puncture wounds.

Today, Jan. 7, Critteraid had some positive news to share about two dogs.

“Ben is showing amazing progress and no matter how gross the medicine tastes, he is taking all of his medicine like a champion,” according to a Facebook post by the sanctuary. “This soon-to-be-beefy boy will be going into surgery on Jan. 10 and then he'll be well on his way to recovery. Ben is slowly getting weight on him and is eating multiple small meals a day, prescribed by a veterinarian. He loves toys and is very excited to pick out some new toys as soon as he is recovered and can play with them.”

And Jerry has been adopted and renamed Bazz. He’s living in a permanent home with the family that found him on the logging road.

“He has been vaccinated, dewormed, patched up and given many meals and all the love and cuddles he could ever ask for. Bazz has a neuter appointment and is recovering well from his past life. We at Critteraid wish the best for Bazz and his new family.”
