House gutted by fire, family lost everything
PENTICTON – No word yet on the cause of a fire that destroyed a home and left a family homeless Saturday night.
Penticton Fire captain Graham Gowe says crews were called to the fire at 627 Martin St. at about 10:22 p.m.
Flames were shooting out of the roof and the front house when they arrived, he says.
A total of 25 fire fighters with 3 engines battle the roaring blaze.
“No one was hurt,” Gowe says. “Everybody got out, but the tenants lost a cat and iguana.”
The family renting the house are homeless and lost all their possessions.
They are in the care of Emergency Social Services, he says.
Investigators will be sifting through what’s left of the house on Monday looking for the cause.
