Wheelchairs welcome at two Kamloops skating rinks this fall

KAMLOOPS – People who use wheelchairs will be able to participate in public skates when rinks open for the 2014 fall season.

The city is making this form of recreation accessable at Brock and Valleyview arenas on a drop-in basis. Patrons using wheelchairs on the ice during public skating sessions must wear helmets. They are not manditory for those not using wheelchairs, but the city strongly encourages people of all ages to use them.

All fall skating programs start Sept. 22. There'll be free programs offered, including preschool skating, family only, adult only and seniors only. As well, there'll be a few free Tim Horton's sponsored skates.
